The Washington County Area Composite (WAC) MTB Team is a youth mountain biking team for student-athletes in grades 5–12 from Washington County, Nebraska. Our riders come from Blair Public Schools, other Washington County schools, home schoolers, and nearby communities. That mix is what makes us “Composite,” and it’s what makes our team special. We’re one team, united by dirt vibes, trail rides, and a love for riding together.
Our team competes in the Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League as part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Founded in 2022 by a small but dedicated group of coaches and just four student-athletes, the WAC MTB Team has continued to grow. Today, three of our original riders are still rolling with us, and our team now includes six athletes in grades 6–12 supported by four committed coaches.
We are growing our team and are looking to expand up to 15 students and adding a couple of coaches too. This is the first season where WAC MTB Team is inviting 5th grade students to the NICA community, as we leverage our previous successes, and build new community partnerships with families, businesses, and foundations to sustain continued growth and support to local students getting involved with mountain biking.
